MY STORY
My name is Ryan Eric Kraassenberg.
Eleven years ago I took the first heart photo, it was stuck to a lampost in Amsterdam East. At the time I was still homeless, so I was always on the streets. As I walked around Amsterdam, I kept coming across more and more hearts in the form of stickers, logos, graffiti, and even children's chalk drawings. That's when I began thinking how I could create something beautiful from all of the photos I'd taken.
Eventually, I developed the idea of creating photo books and the name of the concept. Voilà! Amsterdam Street Hearts was born - also known as, A S H. With my first book, I want to put Amsterdam in a new light and spread the love I didn't receive as a child. It's because of this book that l started to love myself again; it helped to rekindle my passion for photography, and now I can share my story with you and the world.
Thank you for visiting the A S H website. Maybe you'll buy a gift for your loved-one, or for yourself, and share the love of Amsterdam Street Hearts.

Voor Ryan zijn deze hartjes meer dan foto’s. Ze zijn een bewijs dat liefde zich altijd laat vinden, juist wanneer je haar het hardst nodig hebt.

Ryan has inspired me to view the world differently. Amsterdam Street Hearts has shown me that expressions of love are everywhere as long as we take the time to see them.
